In short

Who runs this site

This policy covers The Bee Bible (thebeebible.com.au), which is run by an Australian hobby beekeeper. Questions about it go to [email protected].

What this site collects

Visiting the site

The site is a set of plain web pages. It doesn't ask for your name, use accounts, or run analytics. Its fonts are stored on the site itself, so loading a page doesn't contact Google Fonts or any other font service.

Like every website, the site is served by a hosting company, Cloudflare (Cloudflare Pages). When your browser asks for a page, the host may keep standard technical records such as your IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time. Hosts keep these to run the service and protect it from attacks. The Bee Bible doesn't use these records to identify visitors.

Searching the site

The search box uses Pagefind, which runs entirely in your browser using an index stored on this site. What you type is not sent to the site or to any other company.

Emailing the site

If you email, your email address and message are kept so you can be answered and so corrections can be checked. They aren't added to a mailing list, sold or shared, and they are deleted once they're no longer needed.

Cookies

This site sets no cookies. Your browser may store copies of pages and fonts to load them faster next time; this stays on your device.

Advertising

No advertising is shown at present. The site may show advertising from Google AdSense in future. This section explains what will change, and this policy will be updated before ads appear.

When advertising is switched on:

  • Google and its partners use cookies to show ads, and to measure them, based on your visits to this and other websites.
  • Google may use this information to show personalised ads. You can turn off personalised advertising in Google's ad settings.
  • Google explains how it uses this information inHow Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services.
  • A notice will ask for your choice about cookies before any non-essential cookies are set.
  • Ads never appear on the current-alerts or state-rules pages.

Affiliate links

No affiliate links are active at present. Links to products are plain links. The site may use affiliate links to Amazon Australia (amazon.com.au) in future.

When you follow an affiliate link, Amazon uses a cookie on its own site to record that you came from The Bee Bible, so a commission can be paid if you buy. The Bee Bible never sees your name, address or what you personally bought: Amazon only reports total sales. Amazon's own privacy notice on amazon.com.au covers what it collects. Theaffiliate disclosure has more detail.

Links to other websites

Guides link to government departments, research bodies and other sites. Those sites have their own privacy policies, which apply once you leave this one.

Information stored overseas

The hosting company, Google and Amazon may store information on servers outside Australia. Each is responsible for the information it collects under its own privacy policy.

Your choices and rights

  • You can ask to see, correct or delete any email you have sent, through the contact page.
  • You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The site works fully without them.
  • If you're not satisfied with how a privacy concern is handled, you can contact theOffice of the Australian Information Commissioner.

Changes to this policy

This policy will change when advertising or affiliate links are switched on, or when the site changes how it works. The "Last updated" date at the top shows when it last changed.
