Affiliate disclosure

How The Bee Bible may earn money from product links, and how that is kept separate from what the manual recommends.

What an affiliate link is

An affiliate link is a link to a shop that records which website sent you there. If you buy something after following it, the shop pays that website a small commission. The price you pay is the same.

The Bee Bible may join the Amazon Associates program for Amazon Australia (amazon.com.au). Once it does, some links to products on Amazon will be affiliate links.

How you'll know

  • Every page with affiliate links says so in a short notice at the top, before any links, and links to this page.
  • Affiliate links go only to amazon.com.au.
  • Until the site joins the program, product links are plain links and the notice doesn't appear.

How products are chosen and scored

Commissions never decide what the manual recommends.

  • Research-based reviews. Reviews are labelled "Research-based review". They are built from manufacturers' specifications, official guidance and published owner feedback, summarised in the site's own words. Products are not described as tested in the site's own hives.
  • A published scoring method. Every product is scored out of 5 on the same four things: build quality, value, beginner-friendliness, and how easy it is to buy in Australia. A "How reviews are scored" page will explain each one when the first reviews are published.
  • No invented ratings. The site doesn't publish made-up star ratings or testimonials.
  • No paid placements. Brands can't pay for a review, a higher score or a place in a buying guide. Products may be recommended even when there's no affiliate link for them.

Advertising

The site may also show advertising from Google AdSense in future. Ads are kept separate from the guides and never appear on current biosecurity alerts or state rules. The privacy policy explains the cookies involved.
